Premium Exterior Timber Oil

Ensure the surface is in sound condition, dry, and free from dirt, dust and other contaminants. Oils and grease must be removed with a suitable cleaner. Where there has been mould, treat the area with a moss and mould remover. Treat old weathered timber with Procoat Timber Cleaner and Brightener to remove dead wood fibres and discolouration.

If multiple tins of stain are being used, we recommend mixing them all together to ensure a consistent colour.

Do not apply to new dressed timber or timber that is damp. Allow timber to fully dry and weather before staining. LOSP pine should be weathered for 2 weeks to improve uptake, and dense timbers like kwila should be weathered for 4-6 weeks to ensure adequate resin bleed has occurred. Any timber showing signs of mill glaze should be sanded to improve penetration.

Stir well during use and during use with a broad flat paddle, using and up and down scooping motion.

Apply 1 full coat of Procoat Premium Furniture & Decking Oil and allow to dry.

A second coat may be required on rough sawn or very weathered timber.

Note: Excessive coats will cause a varnished look and may lead to early failure of the stain. When re-oiling, always check the absorbency of the substrate, if the oil doesn’t penetrate, sand back to bare timber.

All new work should have a second application of oil applied after the first summer to allow the timber and oil to weather in.

We recommend washing every 12 months (after each winter is a great time) with a suitable exterior cleaner such as Procoat Exterior House & Deck Wash to remove dirt deposits. Dirt, salt and bird deposits left on the surface will encourage the growth of mould and affect the longevity of the stain.
